In semester 2, 2008, the club is meeting every Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. in room 108, Napier building, University of Adelaide (North Terrace Campus.) Details of events and topics are as follows:

  • Wed. 30th July: Kieren Nanasi speaking on the difference between logics and theories


  • Wed. 6th August: Peter Quigley - 'Creativity and a criticism of Kuhn's theory of revolutions'


  • Wed. 13th August: Chris Letheby - 'Interests and concepts in moral thought - a critical response to Cora Diamond'


  • Wed. 20th August: Dr. Philip Gerrans - 'Perceiving Personal Identity'


  • Wed. 27th August: Esther Speight - 'Can you accidentally coerce someone?'


  • Wed. 3rd September: Tim Nailer - 'Zombies and Ethics'


  • Wed. 10th September: Screening of Red Dwarf episode 'Marooned', followed by discussion on the value of people vs. the value of things.


  • Wed. 17th September: Discussion of Philosophy in the Pub papers (from Sun. 14th September)


  • Wed. 24th September & Wed. 1st October: No meeting due to mid-semester break.


  • Wed. 8th October: Matt Nestor - 'Lakatos and a Conventionalist Methodology of Scientific Progress'

  • Wed. 15th October: Aaron Guthrie - 'Why Do Philosophy?'


  • Wed. 22nd October: Dr. Jon Opie - 'What the Fly's Eye Tells the Philosopher's Brain'

  • Wed. 29th October: Dr. Jenny McMahon speaking on Philosophy of Art.


  • November 26th: end-of-year break-up event, pizza night and drinks, with discussion of Alice through the Looking Glass. $10 cost for food.
